
This is a “Just the Basics” List… (Stay tuned for a Monthly update on the latest Mobile apps for Executives on the go!)
1. Email -Since my iPhone is always with me, I rarely check my emails online. All of my accounts can be managed and read from my phone… and my responses are often much shorter via phone. I no longer have to wait until I am back at my desk to get to my emails.
2. Calendar – A great way to keep track of appointments and the Google Calendar syncs right into my phone.
3. Tungle.me Want to have a way to people can schedule with you real-time? Set up Tungle.me on your website and they can schedule appointments with you and requests/acceptances can be managed as push notifications to your phone.
4. Dragon Dictation Are your fingers too big to effectively navigate the mobile keyboard? Use Dragon Dictation to speak your texts, emails and other notes into your phone and have it distributed as a message.
5. YouTube – A standard app, but a great way to research videos about your customers or competition! YouTube is a phenomenal search engine and you can upload your videos on the go that you want to share with the world about real-time events and places that you want to share with the world.
6. NewsRack – If you are hooked on reading the latest news and use RSS feeds to stay on-top of the latest information, then check out the NewsRack app. This is a mobile organizer of all of your favorite feeds that make it easy to stay in-the-know while you are on-the-go! This app will cause “infomaniacs” to drool.
7. Notesy – If you use your mobile device as a notepad… and have ever lost your notes during a sync… Notesy is a great app for you. Take your notes and store them seamlessly into DropBox. Then the notes can be available to you from “the cloud” whenever and where ever you choose to get online.
8. Expenditure – Use your phone to scan in your receipts and Track your Business expenses. Then store away those receipts for your accountant.
9. LinkedIn – Connect into your business network directly from your phone. The greatest new feature is to Share the Latest News with your LinkedIn Connections. And then use Card Munch (below) to manage all those business connections the minute you meet face to face.
10. Card Munch – In 3 Steps, you can create a memorable impression: Scan a Business Card, Connect to your new Contact with one push of the LinkedIn button and then Send the new business connection an immediate follow-up email. Great for Building in your LinkedIn Connections and Instant Follow-up on the Go.
11. Hashable – A Hybrid of Foursquare and LinkedIn… Business Networking and Connections with local check-in and push notifications.
Use these apps to connect with and be as value added as a business person. Today’s new Economy is all about being as productive and helpful to others in the most efficient way possible. The real question for Business owners… “How can you use your mobile device to connect in and be helpful to others?”
